Making an entrance

Our front door is on its way! Well it's arrived at the shop and will be delivered tomorrow evening which means it's almost here.

Here is a pic from the catalogue but ours will be only slightly less dull.

And yes, we angsted over this decision. Entry doors come in all types of designs and we wanted one that will fit with what we're trying to achieve. We've chosen it because it's a classic design but not too traditional in style.

The builder will be installing it and building us a sidelight (if there's room). So tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. We're really excited.

Any suggestions as to how we can pretty it up?

Entry door

Today I'm off to the nearby timber yard as the front entry door is pretty shabby and not at all functional. If you can imagine light coming through when there's no glass, then you get an idea of the problem. Buster wants the entry door to be a priority and the house is just far too cold at the moment so I'm after solutions. We've already had a quote for a new door but the guy wants $800 just to install it. I'm thinking I'll keep looking around.

Overall the front of the house needs some love. We're hoping to remove a large part of the porch and get it looking closer to the original design. I also need to look at the threshold as I think it may have worn, leaving an uneven entry which will need to be filled somehow.
